There are several ways to roll a spliff. Different people prefer different types of spliffs.

These are some of the most popular types of joints:

1. Dutch Style Spliff

The dutch style is the most common type of spliff and comes in different slight variations. It is also known as Switch, One-Layer, Backflip, Inward, Flag, Inside-Out, Fakie, Rembrandt or Reverted. The paper is rolled with the glued side down, then straightened and then the overlaying part is twirled and either burnt or ripped away to avoid smoking more paper than necessary.

2. Mustache aka Chopper or Helicopter

The Moustache consists of two joints connected by a long filter tip in the middle. It's a long spliff burning on both sides with a hole in the middle to draw in.

3. Tulip Joint

The Tulip Spliff is a spherical, short and thick joint looking like a head on a long tip.

4. Windmill Joint

The Windmill Spliff is a cluster of four or more joints combined with a big tip for simultaneous smoking

5. Diamond Spliff

The Diamond Joint is a bitch to roll indeed. It is a joint that splits in two in the middle. So you got one side for the tip, then it splits and recombines at the other end. So it is lighted on the one end, burns down until it splits in two. Then it burns on two ends that are simultaneosly smoked until it recombines again near the tip. It is very difficult to roll it exactly right, the danger of losing weed is high.

6. Stick/Sticky Joint

The Stick Spliff, aka Agent or Spy is a short joint rolled from normal cigarette papers and has the looks of a normal cigarette. It provides a certain amount of camouflage and is easy to roll.

7. Blunts / Phillies

The Blunt or Phillie Joint is a higher class spliff for lovers of flavoured smoke. The "papers" used aren't real papers but flavoured tobacco wraps with a wide joice of aromas. It's quite soft and commonly rolled from pure weed.

Originally blunts are joints that are not rolled with papers but Marihuana will be filled in hollowed cigars. It is said that this methode was develloped in the twenties by black jazz musicians to avoid that their cannabis consuming became to obviously.

Nowadays blunts are produced by several manufacturers in different flavours. The paper is made of grinded tobacco and sold in a Head Shop.
